Darryl’s Experience (Facilitator) [he/him]

One more repetition. The same programme and yet so so different. I enjoyed myself. I’m inspired. And I’m looking forward to more. As I move one step further on my Work On The Self journey, I’m beginning to realise how important it is to be responsible for one’s own journey. Taking it upon one’s self to find and craft out another person’s answer is an impossible task, and at times, I catch myself ‘thinking for participants’ or, to be it more bluntly, ‘assuming other people’s needs’.

I want to let go. I want to acknowledge that it is impossible to be fully in control, and what’s more important is to be in the moment, to listen, and to shape-shift according to the space in-between, while still holding onto who I am and what I believe in.

And that’s when I find possibilities for the inter-action and the relation. That’s when I can freely make my own meaning for my next decision. And that’s when I realise once again how imperfect and beautiful the human relation can be: when we approach another with warmth despite our differences and our failures. Yes, we may drop the ball in-between, but let’s laugh and move on. Let’s just be.

For me, that’s what being an actor and a human being can be about. Finding the in-between. Laughing at whatever arrives, whatever drops, whatever stays, and whatever that I find … in that in-between.
