Nicholas Koh’s Experience (Participant) [he/him]

In a box with four corners, how will you stand? The nuances of performative art lies in the complex ways our inner self transcends thoughts, ideas and motivations into the physicality of our outer self. As we attempt some soul-searching for what truly matters to us, we inevitably bask in the contradictions of our beliefs as we weigh the extent to which our acceptance of something can be disproven by duplicity or alternative reasoning. In doing so, we may get a glimpse of clarity of ourselves and why we think and act the way we do. Just as you look inwards, the next prompt challenges you to look away from the self into the ‘other’. Often, looking away from the self involves the act of caring and kindness- to give a gift and seek nothing in return except for the remembrance of your actions (or not, it depends). On the other hand, the receiver takes the chance to make a change. They may witness and not judge. They may receive and look inwards, perhaps an opportunity to grow.

Coming for WOTS without any preconception of what you are trying to achieve or experience might be useful advice, for a blank page needs no revisitations or self-awareness. A blank page allows us to dream. If the walls could talk, would it?
